Food Science and Engineering Programme: A national  first-class undergraduate programme and Shaanxi provincial first-class undergraduate programme. The programme spans four years and confers a Bachelor of Engineering degree. This programme cultivates senior professionals in food science and engineering with broad knowledge and multi-disciplinary adaptability. It is underpinned by solid scientific theory, engineering technology, and practical training, fostering students with sound political and cultural literacy, fundamental foreign language and computer application skills, and systematic mastery of core knowledge and skills in food science and engineering. Graduates are equipped to engage in scientific research, technological development, engineering design, production management, quality control, product sales, inspection and quarantine, and educational instruction. Graduates will possess broad knowledge and multi-disciplinary adaptability as advanced professionals in food science and engineering.


Food Quality and Safety Programme: A national first-class undergraduate programme and Shaanxi provincial first-class undergraduate programme, pioneered nationally by our college. This four-year programme confers a Bachelor of Engineering degree. This programme cultivates advanced professionals in food quality and safety who possess fundamental theoretical knowledge in chemistry, biology, and food safety management, alongside capabilities in food safety research and technical administration. Graduates systematically master the knowledge framework for food quality and safety monitoring, enabling them to undertake roles in food safety management, quality and safety inspection, regulatory oversight, scientific research, and educational instruction within food processing, distribution, and industry quality supervision sectors. They are equipped with broad knowledge and multi-disciplinary adaptability.


Food Nutrition and Health Programme: Pioneered nationally by our faculty, this four-year programme confers a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Adopting an integrated undergraduate-postgraduate training model, it aims to cultivate multidisciplinary professionals with expertise in food nutrition and health theory, information science, and engineering technology. This programme fosters cross-disciplinary convergence, embodies the distinctive strengths of new agricultural sciences, and aligns with the university's ‘Four Major Missions’ for disciplinary development. Graduates will master fundamental scientific knowledge in food nutrition and human health, including core concepts and experimental techniques in biochemistry, basic nutrition, molecular nutrition, food chemistry, food microbiology, and immunology. They will acquire essential methodologies for analyzing, testing, and controlling the efficacy and quality safety of functional foods, alongside proficiency in process engineering design, equipment selection, enterprise management, and technical-economic analysis for functional food production. Students will also gain insight into the latest research advancements in food science and emerging trends in functional food development and comprehensive utilization. Graduates may pursue careers in higher education institutions, research organization, industry and commerce, food and drug regulatory bodies, entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies, food enterprises, community-based food nutrition and safety services, food nutrition and safety management, and public nutrition sectors.


“3+1” Dual Degree Joint Program of Food Science Between NWAFU and UNLThe “3+1” program is an internationally cooperative food science and technology program between Northwest A&F University and University of Nebraska- Lincoln, which was established between NWAFU & UNL on Sept. 13th, 2014. The program is the whole university’s first education program signed with a foreign country, which aims at cultivating students to become innovators with international vision and creative spirits.

This Program adopts the “3+1” model, which means students will spend the first three years studying fulltime in NWAFU, and the fourth year in UNL provided they meet the admission requirements of UNL. Those who successfully complete this program will be granted the degree of Bachelor of Science by UNL, and awarded the Graduation Certificate and the degree of Bachelor of Engineering by NWAFU.
